Clarke County Warrant Records Clarke County Warrant Records

Start with the paper in your hand. The agency printed on a citation decides which Clarke County clerk can actually answer, because the Justice Court, the town courts, and the Circuit Clerk each run separate dockets and none of them searches the others. A Clarke County warrant search works as a string of calls, not one query. The sheriff can explain which records it holds. It cannot recall a warrant. So note the case number, the court date, and the officer's name first, then call the court that owns the file.

Search Clarke County Warrants by Court

Most people search by county name and stall. Clarke County is a geography, not a filing cabinet. One person can have a Clarke County town ordinance case in one court, a Clarke County Justice Court traffic matter in a second, and a circuit cause number in a third, all at the same time. So a clean answer from one clerk says nothing about the other two. Sort by jurisdiction first, then by which office keeps the record, then by the kind of process you are asking about. That order fails far less often than starting from a name and hoping.

Clarke County Warrant Search Fields

Clarke County has no warrant form of its own. The one Mississippi access form that matters is the PAMEC gate itself. Its fields open an account rather than search a case, and that distinction trips up plenty of people expecting a lookup screen.

Clarke County Circuit Warrants in PAMEC

Clarke County Circuit Court joined Mississippi Electronic Courts on August 17, 2020. The Tenth Circuit court information page posts that date, plus the court's Quitman mailing address, the 601-776-3111 line, and hours of eight to five.

The same page publishes the docket flags the system uses, among them Bench Warrant Issued, Bench Warrant Returned, and Capias Pending. Under the non-attorney terms, remote viewing costs twenty cents a page. Registration runs ten dollars a year, and free electronic access may exist at a Clarke County clerk office during regular hours.

What a Clarke County Warrant Search Returns

A Clarke County docket result lists events. It is not a verdict on your status. Read the fields below in order, and ask the clerk to translate anything that reads like a code.

CourtJustice, municipal, or Circuit. This is the single most important field.
Case or Citation NumberThe clerk's identifier, such as 2024-CR-01234. Formats vary by court.
Process LabelBench warrant, capias, summons, or arrest warrant.
Docket FlagSystem wording such as Capias Pending. Ask what it means in your case.
Service or ReturnWhether an officer filed a return, and on what date.
Verification DateWhen the clerk confirmed the status. Without it, a printout goes stale fast.

What a No-Match Warrant Result Misses

PAMEC charges by the page even when the search finds nothing. An empty screen still feels like an answer. It is not. The wrong court, a spelling variation, a sealed case, an unfiled matter, or an older paper record can all produce the same blank result in a Clarke County search.

Caution: An empty result never proves a clean record, so confirm with the clerk of the court that would have issued the process before you rely on it.

Where Clarke County Warrants Are Checked

The Clarke County Circuit Clerk holds circuit filings, indictments, motions, judgments, and process. Clarke County Justice Court keeps county traffic, DUI, and ordinance dockets, plus the first appearance on felony affidavits. Each Clarke County town court maintains its own municipal file. The sheriff keeps agency records and serves process but runs no public index. Above all of that sits a system the public cannot reach. The Mississippi Criminal Information Center handles wants and warrants through NCIC and NLETS for law enforcement only, and a hit there still must be verified by the agency that entered it.

The Clarke County Warrant Call List

Keep these four Clarke County numbers together before dialing. They are office lines from the 2025 Secretary of State county directory, not dedicated warrant lines. One county page still shows a stale area code for Justice Court.

OfficeNumberAsk For
Justice Court601-776-5371Citation status, appearance date, county process instructions
Circuit Clerk601-776-3111Cause number, filed documents, whether the docket sits in MEC
Sheriff's Office601-776-5252Whether the agency holds a record and how to request it
Chancery Clerk601-776-2126Family, support, and estate files only

Note: the 601 prefix is what the Clarke County root page and the state directory carry, so use it when a court page shows something else.

Access and Restricted Warrants

Mississippi opens Clarke County public records by default and then names the exceptions. Courts add their own layer, since the judiciary sets electronic access policy apart from any agency workflow.

Key Rules:

Miss. Code § 25-61-12 - An investigative report held by a law enforcement agency may be withheld, while an incident report is released with protected parts removed.

Miss. Code § 43-21-255 - Juvenile law enforcement records stay confidential, so a Youth Court question never belongs in a public search.

Mississippi Public Records Act index - A written denial should name the exact exemption relied on, and segregable public parts still have to be produced.

Checking Your Own Clarke County Warrant

Prepare your Clarke County identifiers privately. Share them only with the office, and keep them out of web forms and public messages. A clerk needs just enough to find the file.

  • Full legal name, plus former or middle names only if the clerk says they help
  • Citation, case, or cause number, and the approximate appearance date
  • The issuing agency and whether the stop happened on a state highway, a county road, or a town street
  • The offense category in plain words, such as traffic, ordinance, or missed court date
  • A note of who answered, what they said, and the date they said it

If the answer points to open process, the county active warrant page covers what a live listing would and would not show.
